The University of Michigan is a world-renowned public university with a mission to challenge the present and enrich the future. So what does the future look like? In conjunction with the five impact areas for the Look to Michigan campaign, we want students to help us radically reimagine a university that rises to the challenge to:
- provide immersive and transformative opportunities in Life Changing Education,
- that leads the way in areas of Climate Action and Environmental Equity,
- that develops, practices, and informs the future of Democracy and Civic and Global Engagement,
- leverages a multidisciplinary approach across our exceptional breadth nationally ranked programs to generate Advanced Technology,
- and centers and transforms holistic Human Health and Well-being.
The Campus of the Future Student Idea Showcase is a call-to-action, inviting students working in teams or individually to submit innovative proposals that will serve as a charge to university administration.
Project Scope:
We seek innovative ideas that enhance, reform, or radically rethink the educational landscape. Ideas can take the form of products, services, programs, classes, spaces, and more. Projects can range from something as simple as reforming an underutilized space or establishing a new student community area to proposing an entirely new way of teaching, grading, or learning. All ideas are welcome!
Problem Statement:
How Might We… strategically transform the University of Michigan's educational ecosystem, including its learning environments, delivery models, and support structures, to ensure that a U-M education remains a globally relevant, transformative, and high-impact experience that fosters comprehensive growth, maximizes student success, and expands access for a diverse community of aspiring learners, regardless of background or physical location.
Submission Requirements:
- The Pitch: A slide deck accompanied by a narrated 7-minute video.
- Project Details: A project title and a 75-word abstract summarizing your idea.
- Team Info: A full list of team members, including their umich email addresses, school, and degree program.
The final submission will result in students being selected to present either a poster or a live pitch to President Grasso and Provost McCauley on Friday, April 10th, 2026.
